My doctor was giving me Pramipexolen 0.5mg at bedtime. It wasn't working so well and last time she gave me Ropinirole 1mg. Take 1/2 mg at bedtime to start. If that didn't work take the other half. I took it last night and it didn't work too well, couldn't get any sleep.
Tonight I took the whole pill at bedtime. I don't know the results yet but right now I still have the Rls. I then read what you said about Ropinirole and I don't want to get into that situation again.
I once got into Rimeron and it was hell to get off of. It literally drove me crazy. I don't want to go down that road again.
I won't be able to see her for a few days and I am stopping the Ropinirole to ask her about the drug and what else she would prescribe

Hve her prescribe gabapentin which is now the first line treatment for RLS Beginning dose is usually 300 mg gabapentin or 100 mg since you are over the age of 65 although I started with 300 mg at age 80. It won't be fully effective until about 3 weeks. After that increase it by 100 mg every couple of days until you find the dose that works for you. Take it 1-2 hours before bedtime. If you need more than 600 mg take the extra 4 hours before bedtime as it is not as well absorbed above 600 mg. If you need more than 1200 mg, take the extra 6 hours before bedtime. Most of the side effects of gabapentin will disappear after a few weeks and the few that don't will usually lessen. Those that remain are usually worth it for the elimination of the RLS symptoms. According to the Mayo Clinic Updated Algorithm on RLS: "Most RLS patients require 1200 to 1800 mg of gabapentin daily." If you take magnesium take it at least 3 hours before taking gabapentin as it will interfere with the absorption of the gabapentin.
Print out the appropriate sections in the Mayo Clinic Updated Algorithm on RLS at Https://mayoclinicproceedings.org/a... and take it with you to your doctor's appointment to show her.
Hi, Clarence. Given the small amount(s) you have taken , I would advise you to stop using it now. Try to find something else. Ropinirole does get the demon under control but only for a while. Then it stops working and is very traumatic to give up.
For RLS, prampiexole 0.5mg and ropinirole 1mg are NOT small amounts. Usually it is not advised to stop these medicines suddenly , but rather to taper off slowly.
