Ferritin second image
Hi. You have loads of results, but as far as I can see only one iron value, the one for ferritin. Penultimate one on this second page. It reads 75, I think (difficult to read). Too bad you did seem to have gotten a full iron panel, as transferrin saturation is quite important as well.
According to the treatment guidelines, first try and raise your iron by taking oral supplements. They can be gotten over the counter. Most people on the forum prefer the non or leas constipating iron bisglycinate. Take every other day before bed to enhance absorption. This way the chance of gastrointestinal problems, mainly constipation, is also low.
The usual advice is if your ferritin is below 75, use iron supplements. If above 75, the iron from iron supplements is not absorbed very well, so they advise iron infusions.
In the UK I won't get iron infusions anywhere. GP told me all is good but not a RLS specialist. Cannot take iron first thing in the morning as I am taking L Thyroxine tablets then as I had a thyroid removal and need those.
Hi there, you should query to see another GP. I have mentioned iron infusion to two GPs before Christmas and they were both positive about me having that given my very low increase in ferritin and other iron parameters despite taking supplements at fairly high doses every over day. (the only reason I haven't pursued it yet is that I got another issues with muscles but I am about to ask for a formal referral to hospital soon). This website is also good to explain blood results (you need to scroll down, click on the relevant name for more info) although it won't tell you want is considered 'bad' levels for RLS. healthmatters.io/biomarker-...
