I been struggling with rls for 18 years now. I have tried pretty much everything only things works in pramepexole. But the augmentation is terrible. I have tried opiods in the past and they work well for me. However I cant find a dr willing to prescribe them for rls. I live in tx and prefer not to travel out of state to see a dr anyone know of someone?

I am experiencing the same issue here in WNY. When Asked she said no and that is not safe and we never prescribe opioids. Which then left me thinking of other ways of trying to get them. Desperation calls for desperate measures. My doctor also said no when I asked her if she had RLS

Hi, this is a UK website so you may not get the number of replies that will help.Is WNY West New York?

There are doctors in New York City who are familiar with RLS and prescribe low dose opioids. Dr Glen Brooks at the Ketamine Clinic is one of them.

If you join rls.org the US RLS foundation, they have help groups in each US state and a list of Centres of Excellence where the doctors are very knowledgeable about RLS.

Thanks Joolsg, I was hoping for more like the Dallas area but I might have to make the trip to Houston if needed.

I live in Ohio. My neurologist can’t prescribe opioids but she said she could refer me to a pain specialist who would be able to.

Ive been to 4 pain specialists none will give opiods for rls. They dont understand rls and the need for opiods at all.

Have you tried Requip? I take it when I am struggling w RLS. It does the job! I pray you get some rest!

As he had augmented on Pramipexole ( Mirapex) all other dopamine agonists including Ropinirole (requip) should be avoided as they will very quickly cause the same complication.

You need to find a specialist - probably a neurologist - who has done research on RLS and most likely followed that up with peer-reviewed papers. These are the only "specialists" who truly understand RLS and how to treat it. All of the other neurologists I've seen in the past 20 years have only a scant understanding of the disease.

Question if I am allowed to ask. Is hydrocodne considered an opioid to treat rls. I take 10 mg a few times a week and trying to figure out if not taking it some days causes my rls to be bad that night
