I thought I would share my christmas discovery

The perils of being a woman always thinking about of waistline.

Over the party season , I inceasead my artificial sweetner intake to approximately 6 sachets mostly at night.

Most unusual for me I was having nights of being wide awake then resorting to taking a sleeping pill at 4 am . Other nights my hands woke me 3 days in a row moving around.

Then I was have daytime full body symptoms that augmentation feeling which we know so well.

I was thinking can the brain rewire around the buprenorphine

Then Manervas words in my head WHAT HAS CHANGED ?

Bingo artificial significant sweetner increase mostly at night !

I googled it sure enough there it was in black and white insomnia restlessness even withdrawals.

Lucky for me this was a short term thing and back to sleeping like a baby symptom free.

Holiday seasons are always a challenge for RLS sufferers.Exotic foods and drinks, eating out with no control over contents- usually delicious sauces full of "you know what"!

It's great that you were able to discover the causes.

Wow. That is a dramatic change in symptoms. Thank you for sharing your experience as it may have taken many of us a lot longer to figure out the connection. And it’s timely too, with many hoping to set new year’s goals and perhaps considering a shortcut like artificial sweetener. My partner just got diagnosed with diabetes and I know artificial sweeteners were on my list of things to consider. Not now! :) So happy you are back to sleeping soundly!! Thanks again!

A lady I know who suffers from really bad insomnia, her legs are under control from Buprenorphine but still has inomnia She has just stopped a large daily intake of monk fruit sweetener to see it helps her sleep.

It seems all sugars in excess can change the brain as they cross the barrier.

There is no research on monk fruit.
