Hello Everyone
Apparently there is a link between RLS and undetected Lyme disease.

Lyme disease is a tick-borne infection caused by bacteria in the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato group. The first symptom is usually a characteristic pink or red rash that starts as a small red spot that gradually spreads in a much larger circle with a characteristic bulls-eye appearance called erythema migrans..............connection?
I wasn’t aware of a connection or even the suggestion of one. However Googling brings up quite a few links for example the one below where RLS type symptoms are observed in people with Lyme disease. Some suggest that Lyme disease causes nerve damage which may trigger RLS but given no-one really knows the full mechanism of RLS (and probably Lyme disease) there might be other links. I don’t believe I have Lyme disease although I have been exposed to ticks over many years of hill walking. Interesting possibility.
Lyme Disease is treatable with antibiotics if caught quickly enough. So I think that there is not likely to be any connection between it and RLS. There may be a couple of similar symptoms but, like Munroist, I too am a hill walker & am very much aware of ticks and have not come across this idea before.
I am wondering if different situations may trigger the same or similar symptoms. I have had RLS since a toddler so am sure Lymes is not involved but maybe it is the trigger for others. Happy New Year to all.
