I have never taken these kind of supplements, but does anyone know if one or the other or both help RLS symptoms?

In themselves, I don't think they cause or relieve RLS.However, many people think that gut biome has a major effect.

I copied this from the internet fairy.

New Study Suggests an Imbalance of Gut Bacteria Might Be Linked to Restless Leg Syndrome. Experts say treating the overgrowth of harmful bacteria might help people with the sleep disorder. People with restless leg syndrome may have unusually high levels of bacteria residing in their gut.10 Jun 2019

So--- it probably won't do any harm, and may actually benefit you! 😜😎

Hey, Madlegs1! Yeah, this is why I wondered if we might find relief from probiotics because I hear about how others benefit from changing their diet. If I were to start taking this, I wonder how much would be a beneficial amount and whether prebiotic or probiotics is preferable and how long it would take to start working.

I hereby appoint you as Experimenter number 301.

You are directed to try various pre and pro biotics, in varying doses, in order to ascertain the most beneficial treatment for your own precious body.

You are asked to return the results to this site, as soon as you are happy with them.

😜

Good luck- and have fun!!!😎

I see a few problems with off the shelf probiotics. First there are thousands of strains of bacteria, some good, some bad most are benign. So which ones are the ones your gut needs.

The second issue is the amount, some of the best probiotics are very expensive and only provide 100 billion CFU (Colony Forming Units?). There are trillions of those bacteria in the gut.

I am not saying this is a bad direction to go. What I have done recently is to start making homemade kefir (fermented milk). It's been used for hundreds if not thousands of years. There are lots of studies that show how kefir can reduce inflammation. BTW, I calculate based on two conservative studies that 250ml of kefir has about 1.2 Trillion CFU!

There is also homemade sourkraut and kombucha. We (my wife and I) have been doing kefir for a couple months. It don't really think it has helped my RLS. I have come to like it and I certainly don't think it is hurting my RLS.
