I am from NZ and have been desperate with my RLS also for months, sometimes not getting to sleep till 4.30am!! I finally went back to my Dr saying something had to be done as I couldn’t carry on with no sleep. I’ve been on 1-2 Madopar for years but it just isn’t working now. As well as Madopar, I take Panadol, Codeine Phosphate and then finally half a sleeping pill to try to get to sleep. Nothing worked. He prescribed Ropinirole 0.25 mgs (1 at night) and after a few days I found the RSL had improved and I am finally getting a few hours sleep. I go back in a month so will see about getting the dose increased. Fingers crossed.

I'm not sure where Madopar fits in with Dopamine Agonist meds, but it may have been responsible for augmentation. If that's the case, then your Dr has poured petrol onto the fire.
Please check out augmentation and whether levadopa is a Dopamine Agonist?
Good luck.
Manerva has given you excellent advice. Please listen to him. Clearly your neurologist is decades behind best treatment for RLS. The top doctors in the USA are the best people to follow. Dopamine and Dopamine agonists are no longer in favour to treat RLS because of the extremely high rate of augmentation. Once that happens, the only way to end the agony is to follow Manerva's advice.
Reduce very, very slowly.
Thanks for that info. I had me suspicions!!!😏🧐
Thank you so much for your reply. At this stage I have been on Ropinerole for about 9 days and am definitely getting much more sleep. I am not taking the Madopar or Sleeping tablet and trying to just take the Ropinerole to see how it goes. At least I’m not up all night now! I will read all the info you sent and once again, thankyou for taking the time to reply to me,
HiI don’t get to sleep most nights until 4/5am, so glad your doctor is helping with meds. X
