Hello again, anything about antacids?

So on top of my kidney infection, I most likely have an ulcer. I’m going to have to go back to Urgent Care tomorrow because I can’t eat without gagging and it’s hard to drink. They’re going to want to put me on an antacid, but I know they usually exacerbate RLS. I’m going to research to see if I can find anything myself, but if anyone knows something feel free to comment!

Any antacids that would be okay? I’m already taking Zofran for nausea, but if it’s an ulcer I’m going to need an actual antacid.

If you have an actual ulcer, the usual cause is a bacteria called helicobacter pylori.

The treatment for this is an antibiotic.

Bismuth subsalicylate can also be used to protect the ulcer from acid.

Both the usual types of antacid used i.e.proton pump inhibitors and Histamine (H-2) blockers can make RLS worse.

You should have a test for the helicobacter pylori bacteria.

Do you know where I could read about that? I’ve been looking all over. I saw Dr. B said there’s no connection between PPI’s and RLS, but that doesn’t seem completely right.

I could try the bismuth for now, maybe it’ll help. And if I do have to get emergency help tonight, I’ll have them test for h. pylori. It could also be my constant use of ibuprofen making everything worse, who knows at this point, lol.

I'm surprised that Dr B says that.

These antacids are associated with RLS. This because they interfere with the absorption of iron. I believe vitamin B 12as well.

Have tried "Medicinal Charcoal Tablets"? These seem to suit me pretty well I get them from Amazon.

No I don't suffer from ulcers.

Have you tried "Medicinal Charcoal Tablets 300mg" I find they suit me fine and I get them from Amazon. If you try them let me know how you get on.
