Pregabalin reduction

Since I am so fortunate that Pregabalin at lower doses helps my PLMD I am reducing it from 300 mg. daily to minimize daytime sedation. I know everyone is different and I also know I am sensitive to medications. That being said, I am wondering if going down 25 mg. every week or 10 days is more quickly than "normal"? I am interested in experiences of those who have withdrawn from Pregabalin with difficulties and what they did to help (besides slow down). Thanks.

I was on 150mg of pregabalin in addition to 25mg of OxyContin. I only took it to counteract panic attacks which started with oxycontin.

I am now down to 25mg by reducing 6.25mg every 10 days. I did this by opening the capsules & dividing the powder into quarters.

I have had no side effects so far. I should be completely off pregabalin in 40 days. I’m reducing as slowly as possible to avoid any withdrawal symptoms.

That is very slow. I will try dividing the 25mg capsules as you did. I think that will help. Thanks a lot.

I had read about people having withdrawal problems so decided to go as slow as possible & it definitely helped as no side effects.

I came off very quickly. I had only been on it about two months, between 100-200mg each night by the end. But due to side effects, I wanted to stop quickly. I had a couple of days in between reducing the dose by 25mg a night. I don't know if I experienced any repercussions as the effects of not having any replacement drug at the same time meant my RLS was back 24/7 so I was too ill to notice. My doctor recommended reducing it every few days but didn't specify much else.

Have you been advised? It's probably safer to do it more slowly than I did.

No advice; he just said slower is better.

If there is no urgent reason to come off it, then I agree it is much better to take it slowly. As Alison and Jools say, 10 days has or is working really well so don't do what I did!! All the best.

I reduced and eventually stopped pregabalin. I think 25mg every 10 days or so is abiot right. It’s harder when you get to the lowest doses if you decide ever to come off conpletely. Main effect was flare up of rls. I’d suggest no fixed timescale. After 10daya if atill feel effect of withdrawing don’t reduce further fkr another few days
