My fith week fighting augmentation from sifrol got back to 1 1/2 .25 mg tabs from max dose of 3 . I now am effected in all limbs but usually only one at a time my jerks were very severe but lessened as I reduced dosage pluss increased Lirica dosage.I was falling apart ,lack of sleep and depression forced me to just go cold turkey from the sifrol .I retreated to our caravan with a collection of drugs and prepared to meet the devil ,I took the lyrica and waited for it to start and waited .IT DIDNT HAPPEN apart from a few jerks for about an hour,(there is a god by the way) However I did observe that whilst my attention was diverted to something else the spasms stopped, as did whilst eating has anyone else.noticed that or is it just me ? Tonight may be a different story .Think twice before upping your dose of dopamine agonists youll have to pay it back one day and it ain't fun .wishing you all a.peacefull night.

Hi, it does sound as if you're on the right track so, well done.

Just a couple of things you might find helpful.

It sounds as though you're reducing the Sifrol.much too fast. This means that withdrawal effects will be much worse. It also means the Lyrica won't be very effective. If you're still having some augmentation, then also, Lyrica won't be fully effective.

It took me ten months to wean off 0.75mg oramipexole. I reduced by half a 0.125 tab once every 4 weeks.

Note that Lyrica takes a few weeks to start working, that is, at an effective dose.

Since you've apparently only been taking it a few weeks you need to persist with it.

Be patient, it dies take time to withdraw from Sifrol and withdrawal isn't pleasant, but it is worth going through with it.

Hello Jumpingboy9

Yes I have been through what you are currently experiencing.

And it is hell!!!!

I have had RLS for 49years.

Augmentation big time set in middle of this year due to being on Sifrol (Pramipexole) for a number of years.

I got to the point where I was not sleeping at all and my whole body was jerking.

18 months ago I was on 3.00mg Pramipexole, way above the recommended dosage. I was none the wiser when my Doctor kept increasing my dosage.

Until 18 months ago when a pharmacist alerted me to this fact.

I began slowly reducing my dosage of Pramipexole (Sifrol).

When I got down to 0.250mg Pramepixole, I was made aware of Gabapentin. So I introduced Gabapentin, which I built up to a dosage of 600mg per night.

Augmentation was still a huge problem.

I then started taking Endone (oxycodone) 5mg to help me with reducing the Pramipexole.

I was able to get some sleep but my doctor could not continue prescribing Endone for RLS.

After a month or so, I was down to 0.125mg Pramipexole.

I saw a posting on this site from Shumbah who mentioned Temgesic sublingual 200mcg tablets.

This is micro dosages of Buprenorphine.

I am now sleeping using Temgesic sublingual 200mcg. The tablet is placed under the tongue and takes 10 mins to dissolve. You can take up to 5 sublingual 200mcg tablets per night but I only need to take one, occasionally two.

I am still withdrawing from Pramipexole and Gabapentin.

Gabapentin, I am taking 100mg

and Pramipexole I am taking half to a third of 0.125mg.

I take the Pramipexole and Gabapentin an hour before bed.

The Temgesic, I place under my tongue when I go to bed.

Temgesic does cause constipation, so I take Sennalax, drink plenty of water and eat prunes to address this issue.

Kind regards Julie from Western Australia
