Hi everyone, I was saying a few weeks ago about having a restful time, well it's come to an end. Could it be that this bloody rls has a cycle, this does seem to be what happens to me. Oh it was Heaven for a few weeks now I'm walking the floor again. Can I ask if anyone else suffers from a burning sensation in their shins and feet, I did read this can be a side effect of Pramipexole, no end to this.

I am convinced there is some cyclical nature to RLS, well what I experience. I really should keep a diary on it but it seems even without any changes things start to get bad for a while, I throw more substances at it and it goes away again... for a while.

So while it may be the case that the crap has started again you are not back to square one. Every episode can be a learning experience, you've learnt on here that you do not have to spend your every waking moment in misery - that's progress.

As for the burning shins - no, but my feet often get too hot and I have been known to walk barefoot in the snow to stop it. I think there is a link in there with RLS too but again I have been too lax in record keeping.

Hi I having burning ankles and use boots cooling foot gel. It is the only one that works. It allows you to get back to sleep. It is only about £3 a real winner.

Oh thank you Bridall, I'll definitely get this. Do you have any idea what the burning is or whats causing it.

No sorry I can’t work out why. It also helps when I put the fan directly on my feet for 5 mins which is better than standing up on cold floor. So put gel on and keep fan on cool and hopefully get back to sleep for a few hours. Also leave fan in if it is a quiet one. I only use fan the second time usually the gel works. Also you can gel again, it smells nice as well. Good luck xx

Hi Raffs, thanks for your reply. Your right, I have had a lot of advice and encouragement on this forum. Like you I start keeping a diary, then when the rls eases I don't bother but I know that I have kept pretty much to the same diet and still it starts again. Not sure why my shins and feet burn but will ring my gp.Havent walked barefoot in the snow but definitely love to walk around the house like that. Even the fact that you have replied has lifted my spirits, nothing for it but to carry on and learn. 👍

Yes I also have the burning sensation in my feet and calves. Thid the main thing that keeps me awake each night. I have tryed all of the medication that are mentioned on the forum. I have stopped everyone as after time they just don't help and I have side effects. I sometimes get a night's sleep taking Co codamol or codeine but these don't always work. I don't think anyone understands how Restless legs affects you daily life unless you are a suffering

Hi, I did read that one of the side effects of Pramipexole is burning in legs and if this happens you should stop the medication, I told my gp who just dismissed it and still prescribes it. I'm so relaxed when I get a rest from the horrendous feeling, then when it comes again I feel my whole mood change because I know whats to come.

I agree continuity not sleeping has a great affect on your life. You loose interest in going out and carnt function to do anything as your concentration is also affected. At my very worsed I had know sleep for 3 nights and I was so depressed. I felt that I had no quality of life Its so hard to explain to anyone how Restless leds can take over your life. Try to get your doctor to try codeine as you car buy it over the counter but if not give 2 cocodamol a try before bed it doesn't always work but give it a try
