Iron supplements

I have been on Ropinerole for over 10 years and am now suffering some degree of augmentation.

I recently started taking iron tablets and found an amazing difference in my RLS.

Should these be taken continually or does your iron reach a level ( obviously tested by doctor) and tablets can be stopped?

That's great news.

Yes-- if your serum ferritin gets up to 100 or even 200, you could cease taking iron.

You would need to be getting blood tests every six months ( blood iron panel) to check the iron isn't potentially damaging organs .

An iron transfusion is another possibility, but would have to be prescribed by a doctor.

Good luck.

Hi Manerva, thanks for posting it. I'm just a little bit confused. Generally your serum ferritin should be 200-300, but oral iron doesn't get you there or they don't recommend IV iron when you're already above 100. How should I get there then? Most of the health insurances won't cover the costs either.

Sorry, I don't know anything about health insurance.

You'd have to pay I guess.
