Hello,

I have been living with RLS for 25 years or so and it's totally ruined my life. I have tried everything.

Hello, and welcome to the community. I hope you find it supportive.

I'm sorry to hear that you have suffered from RLS for so many years. There are many members of this forum with a similar history so can appreciate what it must be like for you.

The community can also offer suggestions about ways of dealing with your RLS, if you wish.

You may think you have exhausted all the possibilties ("I have tried everything.").

However. forgive me, you have only tried what you know about or have been told. In which case it's possible there are things you DON'T know about, so won't have tried.

It might be useful therefore to give a summary of what you've tried and then members may be able to identify things you haven't tried.

Up to nearly two years ago, I had been suffering the consequences of severe RLS and its treatment until I discovered this forum and it was because of this forum that I discovered things I didn't know about. Consequently, I feel I have my life back!

So if you'd like to share more detail of what you have tried and what measures you're currently using to control your symptoms, it's possible you can be helped.

Otherwise, you have my sympathy. I understand that RLS can wreck your life.

I too was a life long sufferer at the end of my rope if you know what I mean . If you want to look at my profile you will see some of the horrid journey .

The GOOD news is I am perfect now .

I am on an opioid called buprenorphine or Subutex is another name 1 mg sublingual that is half the dose I was recommended.

I have my life back with have no side effects.

For the first time in my life I know why people say they love their beds and sleeping. If you are in Australia or USA I can give you Doctors who prescribe it .

🙂

You have my sympathy - mine started when I was pregnant and my son is 50 years old! It comes and goes but it has certainly blighted my life. I have tried so many medications, all without success. I have found most doctors extremely unhelpful and I have now given up and just go with the pain/discomfort. I might add this is along with PLMD and mild neuropathy in lower limbs and as far as I'm concerned they are all connected. Good luck to us all. x

Thank you so much for all your replies. I do check all the messages regularly but I am not usually able to concentrate or sit still for longer than 1 minute to give a proper reply, so here goes. I find it too upsetting at the moment to list everything that I have tried and my gp practice has been worse than appalling, they are really quite unbelievably dangerous (Will look in to changing when I am able to) they see me as an annoying medication seeker . My memory is absolutely shocking because of severe lack of sleep over the last couple of decades, I have RLS 24 hours a day and it's in my arms and torso too, I reckon that I have periodic limb movement too because my limbs are often jerking or flailing around and I severe chronic pain with Fibromyalgia thrown in on top to make a delicious smoothie of a pretty garbage and miserable life, more of an existence than a life. I keep going in the hope that things will improve and then I can share with you lovely lovely peoples.

Hi there, I suffer from RLS and find that magnesium oil spray helps to reduce and sometimes completely stop my RLS. I just spray on my legs and/arms before sleep. It takes about 10-15 mins to work. Hope it helps.
