Some one asked if anyone had jerking during the day. Guess I am not crazy.I do. It happens any time I lay back and become drowsy. After meals or even after I wake up and not fully awake. It seems like it may come from the same brain area. I am going to ask for magnetic resonancy or Brain MRI. Also relationsihip if lack os escape of magnesium across the brain barrier-hypothalmas SWee a cat leg jerk. That i8s me. A lightening bolt every 40 sec. I take ropinirole and gabipintine before meals and before meals. The morning i8 get up and walk it off (unless I wake too early to get up0 and then I take them. I take one of each except 2 of each before bed. I see my neurologist tomorrow. Please keep in touch bill54321

Restless OLeg Movement during awakefulness RLMA
Hello Bill.
Your post is a little hard to follow, but from what I can make out it seems you are having fairly severe RLS symptoms during the day.
You don't say what dose of ropinirole or gabapentin you take or what time of day you're taking them but it does sound as if you're suffering from augmentation.
This, if you didn't know, is a condition caused by long term use and/or high doses of a dopamine agonist, ropinirole, pramipexole or rotigotine.
I suggest you read the information in this forum about augmentation.
The accepted way of treating augmentation is to reduce and stop the ropinirole. This must be done slowly to minimise withdrawal effects.
In your case, depending on your current dose, you could increase the gabapentin. An effective dose for gabapentin is usually between 900 and 1200mg. This may not be immediately effective because of augmentation. Augmentation should fade as the ropinirole is reduced.
Here's a link to a good article on augmentation
PS incidentally, an MRI will not detect any changes due to RLS.
Hi Bill,
As Manerva advises, sounds like you are suffering augmentation on Ropinirole. Most people join this site when their RLS becomes bad /worse and 99 times out of a 100 it's because they are on a dopamine agonist and are suffering Augmentation.
MRI won't show anything. It doesn't detect RLS.
Hope you manage to get off Ropinirole safely.
Thank you. I have taken ony 300 mg until recently. For now,it stops the symptoms when spread out over the day. intead of just at night, I have always had physical leg jerks. I see a motion specialist, who is a new neurologist ,coming to the group I see in 2 weeks. I will mention your suggestions.
