Does anyone else suffer both? It’s truly debilitating. Advice would be truly appreciated.

Migraine and RLS
I have come off caffeine which as helped a lot with the headaches, but yes suffer from both, do find that the more opiates I take the worse the head in the morning.
Hope this helps a little.
Thanks for the response, Tamaroy. I find that when I take Tramadol I get the migraines along with really strange visual disturbances. It’s similar to looking through a kaleidoscope! Sorry to hear you get them, as well
Please research magnesium deficiency and symptoms of magnesium deficiency
I am so sorry to hear that. I got off myxoimol (sp) and hydrotordone after being addictive. I can take Trammodol 50 mg -3 tims daily for stenosis in the back. It is not a RLS medication. Some people just have to stick with tylenol at required safe levels for pain and use some diet pain help or hemp etc. I specilized in Biofeedback. Have you tried this ( Practicioners must be Biofeedback of America Certified. May be a psyhcologist. (They did the initial research) or qualified physical Therapist Certified . Hello Nlthomp Sorry to hear of your migraine headaches along with your RLS. I have noticed that many of us on here suffer migraines.
You were saying to Tamaroy that you get "really strange visual disturbances". This is migraine with aura which you are suffering. Have you always had the visual disturbance or is this a new thing?
Some years ago I was treated with gabapentin for facial numbness. Until then I had never had a migraine headache. Suddenly they developed - always with the aura beforehand. Sometimes the headache was unbearably painful and other times once the aura cleared I was left with a dull pain for the rest of that day until I slept again. I started to get the auras up to three times a day which meant I could not drive as once my vision went wonky I would have to stop. Eventually I went to a Migraine Clinic in London as my GP completely failed to diagnose me. I was told at the Clinic that what was causing the frequent auras and headaches was blood platelets thickening and clumping within blood vessels and they put me on to 75 mg. aspirin daily to thin the blood a bit. This was very successful and now I only have two or three headaches per year.
The strange thing was that gabapentin seemed to trigger my attacks when it is sometimes used to help migraine. It did the opposite with me. I see that Tramadol can be used for migraine but I read that it can also cause headaches. All this information may not help you but if I were you I would look into the medication to see if this is causing your trouble. Severe or even mild migraines are truly horrible on top of the sleepless nights with RLS.
I feel for you and hope you get this sorted. Coffee can actually sometimes help the pain of real migraine headaches.
It is strange but sometimes drugs do the opposite of what they are supposed to do. I would be very sensitive to all sorts of medications.
Yes I do. Or did. I had migraines every week and cluster headaches nearly every day. That was 3 1/2 years ago and I have probably had two small migraines since. The answer for me was taking magnesium up to the maximum dose every day. It’s been a godsend. Just make sure that the magnesium you buy is not full of fillers and no magnesium in it. Also make sure that the magnesium ends in ...ate eg Malate taurate citrate etc. Oxide is no use. And you need the amount of magnesium in the capsule not the size of the capsule. I use magnesium Malate and it has 200mg in each cap from amazon. I also suffer Rsl But unfortunately it doesn’t help that. Look into iron on this forum though. It helps a lot of people
Recommended guidelines for a man are 400mg and a woman is 350 mg. I personally take Kirkman mag malate 1000mg of which 200mg is magnesium but there are many others. Check the magnesium percent rda per capsule some pretend they are stronger than they really are. I have actually never taken more than 200mg. So maybe start low and increase to two if necessary. As a side note my brother has started taking 1000mg of another type of magnesium for a milder form of bipolar and nearly 10 months in he hasn’t had any episodes!
