Dr B put me on methadone 5mg for my RLS. I have back, neck and shoulder damage/issues we didnt get a chance to discuss. My back, hip and leg are acting up for 3 wks now. The methadone doesnt help enough. AND I'm headed to a EMG-nerve test (painful, stick electrodes in an inch or two to measure nerve) Is there another pain drug I can take with the methadone when these issues come up? All I have is left over muscle relaxers/tramadol/oxycodone/tylenol. I'm allergic to all Ibrofin drugs.

Hi Mona, I also have neck and low back issues and have had two surgeries. I still experience a lot of pain, especially when active. I recently began 5mg of methadone and it helps my Rls tremendously. My neurologist told me to take 5mg of oxy for the pain if necessary, so you should be safe with that dose.
Mona, I have read from other people that went to see Dr Buchfuhrer that he/ the clinic has a fast functiong Q&A system. Or sumply write him an email with this specific question. This is clearly related to you and your previous consultation. I wouldn’t be surprised if he suggested to temporarily up the dose. But I don’t know whether that is warrented given your specific situation. Dr Buchfuhrer will know.
Was looking for immediate help for the EMG test and back/hip/leg pain but I managed thru the emg test ok. And yes, I did send him an a msg thru the patient portal. Waiting now on his reply.
I have chronic lower back and sacro-iliac problems. I take 6mg methadone and I am not aware that it helps with those issues, although it is magic for RLS.
5mg is the lowest dose, on the whole, so a small increment might help and not harm.
Otherwise, have you got to the root of your pain issues, is there a non-drug way to help? Physiotherapy, kinesiology, chiropractic etc?
