I am new to the forum and don't quite understand the frequent use of "augmented" re medication for RLS. Thoughts please.

Hi. Augmentation means «a worsening of the condition» and is a known side effect of dopamine agonists. When someone says they are augmenting they mean that the drug has quit being effective and, instead of the syndrome just coming to a standstill, it is «augmented». It becomes larger. It becomes worse.

Since the medicine stops being effective, the syndrome very quickly becomes unbearable. Augmentation can take up to years to rear its ugly head. It took 4 years of me loving Pramipexole before it quit working overnight.

Thankyou. Gosh I have a lot to learn. Have had two blessed nights with no symptoms post prednisolone. Infection still about me but so scared of more miserable nights. Also want to give husband a break. He will always go to the ends of the earth to support me physically but when I get deranged he goes a whiter shade of pale thinking he needs to have answers.
