I’ve been doing well on gabapentin 300mg 2, 3 times a day, plus trazadone, I’ve slept really good with no waking up with the legs. That is, until 2 weeks ago, when out of the blue my left leg started going bonkers, through the day aswell, now I’m not sleeping good again, having the odd hr here and there. Any suggestions, more gabapentin maybe?

Could it be the Trazadone? Any chance you could cut that down/out for a couple of days to see if that makes a difference? I say that because last night I took a Trazadone to help me sleep as no longer on any other meds and woke up in the night with burning palms which has taken all day to wear off. Never had this before and it was quite frightening.
When I was taking Trazadone before for a couple of weeks my legs got worse and I started having symptoms in my arms too, but I was also trying Neupro patches so assumed it was augmentation. I stopped the Trazadone quite quickly because of headaches but now I wonder whether it contributed to the augmentation. Shame because it is the only thing that has helped me to stay asleep for more than a couple of hours.
I can’t stop the trazadone. It’s not just for sleep it’s for depression aswell, I’ve been on it quite a while now without any problems so don’t think it’s that. Looks like another trip to the gp I think. Thankyou for your reoly 😂
Think carefully about whether you have made any changes - in diet, lifestyle or medication that may have caused the deterioration. Is it possible your iron levels have dropped? Really sorry to hear about this set back
I am following a slimming world diet, but I thought that would help the cause not hinder it 🙄. I will get my iron levels checked again though.
You might think about any specific foods you have added in the course of doing the Slimming World diet. I notice, for instance, that pasta and potatoes are both in the "free foods" categories. Those are both simple carbs (especially pasta), and can be quickly converted to sugar in the body. Many of us on this forum have found sugar and simple carbs to be triggers for RLS. So if you have recently increased your intake of pasta or potatoes, or other simple carbs, that might be a factor in your increased RLS. Good luck!
I think (although so hard to be certain) that restricting calorie intake has a beneficial effect on my rls so any form of diet should ‘help the cause’ (love your manner of expression) but, as rls-optimist points out, any significant changes might be at fault here. I hope you find something specific and can rectify it. Good luck
