Has anyone been on Sifrol long term without augmentation? Also, if I augmented on Madopar would I definitely have the same reaction to Sifrol? Thanks all - your posts are all so helpful! Thank goodness I found this forum!!

The new thought is that no-one will escape augmentation in the end.

Faster for some, slower for others, but augmentation somewhere down the road.

And pramipexole seems to be the worst med for augmentation, so if you augmented on the madopar it would be a miracle to escape on the pramipexole.

A slower-acting med like the Neupro Patch might be better, but still not foolproof.

Thank you for your feedback! I’m sure it’s easier to deal with RLS on no meds rather than the augmentation!!!

Well, if you need help, you need it.

But anything that messes with the dopamine system is very iffy. And pramipexole is now considered to be truly addictive, worse than many illegal drugs, (which is why it is so difficult to escape), so why low-dose opioids are considered a no-no by so many doctors is beyond me.

IMHO, methadone is the way to go.

I started on 0.125 Sifrol. after a year? , did not keep records, went to 0.25mg. After some months said it was no longer working well but was told by doctor that was all I could have. Then I did research and joined groups like this. I consulted a naturopath and am having a lot of success on Magnesium Chelate and Nature's Sunshine Gotu Kola. This is a herb for brain and nerves, not addictive or anything like that. I am not off the Sifrol yet but only have mild rls for a short time some evenings. On the days I have no symtoms at all I am having half a Sifrol. Will ask doctor and naturopath next time I visit how to best come off it entirely.
