Are there antidepressants that do not exacerbate rls? I’m reaching crisis point with anxiety and depression.

Wellbutrin is a known "safe" one. I think Trazadone is the other one, but someone will have to check me on that.

Please stay safe. Depression is an awful thing to have. I have it to the point of not being able to live and be happy without my antidepressants. Go somewhere in order to be around people/talk to someone you trust if you need to. :)

Hi Yakester

Wellbutrin (not available in the UK) and Trazodone do not generally worsen RLS. Mirtazapine (Remeron) will worsen RLS for a small minority but not everyone.

I hope that helps.

Hi Yakester! Mine is among the estimated 23% of all cases of chronic depression that are either difficult to treat with conventional anti-d drugs or, are treatment-resistant [t-r] to these psychotropic meds. In 2013 the p-dr who's assessment found me to be t-r recommended to my regular MD I be prescribed Methylphenidate (Ritalin) and within ten days of starting on this drug I was experiencing improving clinical outcomes; relief from often crippling depression for the first time in almost 50 years. Ritalin has had NO contra effects, including with my RLS symptoms, which first manifest in 2006. Beware, tho, "the system" WILL make you "jump through hoops" before your MD gets approval to prescribe you this seriously controlled drug. Have you ever considered your's might be among the cases that are t-r to psychotropic drugs? Hang in there friend. Steve

Ditto to that. I have friends whose so-called depression was hugely improved with Ritalin.

I think that confusion reigns supreme in the anxiety- depression problem.

Doesn't ritalin keep you awake? Sounds great but I'm the original insomniac!
