Traveling to Ireland this coming week.

I’m supposed to be traveling to Ireland this coming week. I’m down to 2 mg DAs and 5 methadone. I’ve slept 5-7 hours the last 4 days. Am I crazy to take a 6 hour plane ride with this still up in the air or do I throw caution to the wind and go?

Are you flying from USA to Ireland? For business or holiday? If holiday, you may as well be sleepless in Eire but don’t reduce your DA dose while there- wait until you’re home.

Get sleep in the day if you can.

If you go have a fantastic time & kiss the Blarney Stone!

Will do!!!! Thanks for the encouragement!

Maybe your RLS will benefit from the time change.

Any way you can approach your Dr for a short course of opioids to help so you can enjoy a céad míle fáilte in Ireland?

I’m on methadone 5mg so that should help.

Should do, I'd also advise gentle iron on an empty stomach at about 5pm AND if you really want to you could try gluten free, (although a nice fry here with potato bread, a soda farl and a nice slice of home-made soda bread is a must).

My Grandmother insists that she makes me a fry every morning. Who am I to say no?

My mother was the same, no matter who came a fry was served in the morning - great if you have a hang over :) .

Just updating. I made it to Ireland ! No leg issues on the 6hour flight. Was on 2 mg neupro and 5mg methadone added 400 mg of gabepentin. Since being here no issues. Honestly been good for a week now. Hoping my doctor will agree that this is the best cocktail for me. Although, I’d still like to completely withdraw from the patch I can’t really argue with one week of 6-8 hours sleep a night. Let’s hope it continues. Thanks to everyone who commented here. It helped convince me to take this trip.

Welcome to Ireland! I hope you are having a great trip. A lot of people post that their symptoms improve when they are on holiday. The suspicion is that the absence of stress helps.

My nights got dramatically better before I left. The 4 day period before leaving was excellent. 7hours sleep each night. I’m currently on 2 mg neupro—- down from 6-8 mgs crazy !!—- 400mg gabepentin and 5mg methadone. No sleepy hangover in the morning. Quality of life is so much better. But as I well know, neupro can’t go on forever. There will be a period of withdrawal accompanied with keening and the gnashing of teeth!! But for now it’s all grand!
