hello it’s sausage123 here, i was up late as i normally am because i cannot sleep even though i don’t have trouble having naps during the day and i was started to get curious as to why i always have to move my foot or leg around when i sleep or am trying to. Does anyone know why this is happening ?

That is the 6 million dollar question, sausage. It is a complex synergy of genetic malfunction, problems with dopamine and glutamate receptors, iron uptake and even more unfathomable chemical reactions within the brain. It seems to be beyond the understanding of most medical doctors and taxes my poor brain too much.

As for me, I’ve given up trying to understand this syndrome, find a pattern, etc. If it comes, it comes. As ID says, it’s too taxing.

Basically it appears to be an hereditary predisposition of conditions in the brain that causes the need to move continuously. It seems to happen most frequently in the evening or nights and mostly in the legs although the lower back and/ or arms can be involved. It can be benefited by taking opiates like Tramadol but my wife had great success with Ropinerol which worked even better than Mirapex that her doctor initially prescribed.
