Kraktom
Hi Beady,
I do cut the patch in half -- that is how I wean off the patch (assuming it is a neupro patch you are talking about). You wouldn't need to be finished with the patch to take kratom as they work in different ways.
The situation with tramadol is a bit differeing. I imagine there are many who would suggest that you don't take kratom with tramadol. I was never on an opioid when I took kratom. In your shoes, I would probably take a risk, particularly as your dose of tramadol is quite low, and take the two together but I am not particularly risk-averse when it comes to drugs to treat my rls. I would be inclined to wait for more knowledgeable answers on that one.
As ID says.
Kratom is not a stand alone drug- more a supplementary, to help in short term situations.
All medications that make you feel good are potentially addictive or tolerant potential.
If a patch is not a gel patch but rather an overall "paste" type , such as fentanyl duragesic - then they may be cut - since they are area specific. You just have to be very accurate in cutting them. You won't hear this officially- but it is well documented among human triallists.
Good luck.
I used to cut my Neupro patches when i was using them. A 2mg cut in half to make 1mg and even cut a 1mg to make 1/2 mg. Of course it tells you not to. But i know many people who do. I used to do it as the full dose was too strong for me.
There is absolutely no way to know, since kratom is illegal, and it is hard to get GOOD information on it. I would hate to see you start something that you do not understand. I see a lot of misinformation here and other places on KRATOM, and that would be because it IS illegal in the UK, and also half the states in the US.. Pretty soon it will be illegal in ALL states, and it is extremely addictive, just like opiates, if not worse. There are just as many groups for kratom withdrawal as there are for people who are in love with it. At least with something like tramadol, we have all kinds of information on it because it is a legal drug. it makes me VERY nervous to think you want to try this after all this time, Beady. We should NEVER take something we cannot feel comfortable about, and if you are confused, then I say it is not a good idea for you, in my humble opinion. There are too many people giving out info that do not understand it themselves is my recent observation.
I agree nightdancer..it is hard getting valid info on kratom. That's why it's so important for anyone considering it to totally research it before jumping into it. And because I tried it, and it works for me, I won't preach to anyone to take it..I only state what works for me. Like me personally, I prefer all natural. I never ever did street drugs in my life. I was a happy, healthy, hard worker all my life. I was what you call " high on life" til I was diagnosed stage3breast cancer. I stayed positive thru surgeries, treatment etc. I did have RLS all my life, wasn't nearly as severe as it became recently. Opiates for severe pain in back helped keep RLS under control, bc once it was totally out of my system, it crept up fast and became 24/7 suffering. I've been thru enough the past 7 yrs w cancer, being over treated for profit ( yes..it is FBI case now) trying every natural p.t, chiro, injections, cbd oil, countless otc creams for pain, braces, you name it, I tried it. Then of course the joys of docs prescribing lyrica, neurontin, cymbalta, muscle relaxers..all a fail for me. So then I request an MRI..that pain doc ( who recently got shut down) claimed i only had arthritis. Not accepting that, I seen a surgeon who in detail went over my MRI showing how narrow my spinal canal was..leading me to a L4-5 laminectomy. Apparently, L3 should have been done also, but even a 2 nd opinion said no more surgery..leading me to them prescribing, then abruptly cutting 75 % meds out bc of the epidemic. I took less than prescribed anyway but continued to be confined to bed w heat pad ( it helped best)but couldnt have any activity or I would need more meds. I asked several docs why they saved me, just for me to suffer..yes it was that bad! Used to being active, missing out on joys of raising kids, working..it sucked! So, at the end of my rope, I researched more..came across other options.. ( etanercept injections only administered in Boca Raton, Florida or Cali, out of pocket approx. $3,000 a shot, x 4 plus travel etc . Insurance don't cover anyone..however, enbrel is the pill form..researched side effects..no thank you..) Anyway, I decided on the spinal cord stimulator. Two leads were put in, one for back, one for my legs ( I had severe leg &feet pain from stenosis). After he thought it was a good idea to cut out the meds, even though I still had a ripping & pulling pain from the surgery itself, RLS creeping up bc it helped with that..I was going thru withdrawal from not being properly weened. Remember, I've been on strong opiates for 6 yrs. And so you know, if you have half the pain w the stimulator, it's considered a success even though you could still need and will be prescribed opiates. I wanted no more meds.. Not only for the obvious, but also for the severe constipation. I'm talking weeks without going, looking like I'm 5 mos. pregnant. Adding that to my misery. Yes, I tried EVERYTHING! Metamucil, prune juice, hot baths, colace, suppositories, etc. And guess what!! The ONLY thing that worked.. I got a sample from the doc.. But good ol insurance co. ( I have 3) didn't accept it, and wouldn't allow it even with a higher copay! So...allow me opiates to bind me up, but not give me the one thing that works!! That's what did it for me..sorry I wrote a book here, but I wanted to explain that kratom wasn't my first choice, it was my ONLY hope left. And no one should play doctor and suggest anyone to take anything without FULLY knowing what they're taking, all the contraindications, etc. I haven't come across that yet on this forum. Just people sharing their misery we all are suffering and sharing experiences and what works. Not everything is for everyone. I do a lot of research on many different health issues. I actually came across a advertisement " EAT THESE 4 THINGS, YOU WILL PREVENT BREAST CANCER" ..Well, guess who ate those very 4 things on a regular basis, and still got the big C?? So yeah..don't believe everything you read, be your own advocate, and DO YOUR RESEARCH! When people feel failed by doctors, medications, while suffering in miserable pain, we seek relief, no matter what the extent and look for options we dont know are available. I Know 1st hand how bad the epidemic is. I live in a county where we're only in the 3rd week of January and have 12 Overdoses Already! 200 For 2017 with over 190 suspicious. A fact is Kratom has helped and saved heroin and opiate users.. Additionally, There Is Not One Documented Case Of Overdose On Kratom Alone.. Again.. On kratom alone. Mixed w Modified Chemical Drugs (opiates, Being One) yes...you Can overdose. Research everything and don't be lazy bu just reading Bits And pieces, Read, Learn, ask Questions
Thank you nightdancer for making me feel better about not taking it , all I can say is I am scared I don’t think you can just take something because one says it’s ok to do so, when one on the forum said his hair fell out that did it for me ,if. one is taking it and you start with 1tsp does it mean in 2months time you will be on 2 tsp who knows Thank you forletting me know you can cut the patch nuproin half , I do hope you all who are on it good nightsand thank you all for reply’s xx
I think i have said before why i wont even try Kratom in previous posts. Its illegal here in the UK, i dont understand enough about it, i am sensitive to taking any of the meds, so i dont know how i would react to it, if it made me ill, i couldnt blame anyone but myself, I dont really want to end up in A&E and some one saying she has taken a legal high at her age, that age being 70. lol
