Hi All. A quick new post. Has anyone found that if your mind is occupied that your RLS is lessened? Also if so, ahs anyone tried hypnosis to stop you thinking about the problem all the time?

Yes! Yes! Yes! Distraction is the best way for RLS. Haven't tried hypnosis though.

Yes if I get up and do jobs what ever not think about it it's almost gone when I defrosted fridge or what ever then I go back to bed and sleep for sometime so yes keep busy 24/7 lol

Yes - distraction works - especially if the form of distraction involves movement - but what happens once I am distracted is that I don't think about it and like a fool I get into bed (still not thinking about it - don't need hypnosis if I'm not thinking about it anyway) and then BAM! it starts up again. Sometimes, if I haven't had it for a while I even wonder - for the first nano-seconds - why I am having difficulty settling to sleep.

Also, it comes on WHEN I AM ASLEEP - you don't get much further from cogitative thought than that - I don't think working on not thinking about it is likely to produce useful results.

I don't know. So many people talk about getting involved in binge watching movies or shows to help. I feel like hypnotism may not be so far off. At the very least they could hypnotize me to not subconsciously eat to make myself feel better which in turn caused another bout of rls.

I'm saying this on my recumbent bike which I have ridden for a total of 2 hours and 20 minutes today....sigh...

Absolutely yes, though not if I'm trying to rest or be very still, like at the theatre, or reading in bed. If I'm out for dinner and enjoying myself and being quite animated, I'm fine until much later than usual, but as soon as i realise I've not had my meds, on it comes and quite viciously, as if it's been waiting to pounce.

I've tried most things, including hypnotherapy. I've seen five practitioners but not one of them has been able to 'put me under'. The last one got quite cross with me and told me I 'wasn't trying'! I'm not a very suggestible person so perhaps that's why.

Hi Lorrinet,

Think I would be the same as far as not managing to go under.
