I have severe RLS. It has moved into my arms. I wish something could be done to fix the problem rather than treat the symptoms.

I was started out on Clonazipam over 25 years ago. Added Requip and Gabapentin, and my dosages are high. The Requip is now 4 mg at night. Any time my body relaxes or I get sleepy the horror begins. Meds put my mind to sleep but without the Requip, I sleep walk and do weird things like getting a two little coke from the frige for a drink then putting it in the oven, ( which blew up while preheating). All sort of crazy things even with the meds. Does this happen to anyone else? Do you feel your leg(s) go cold and numb when on concrete floors? Do you feel your RLS begin in your chest, then can't keep your arms still just before your legs go wild? I am so exhausted.

Just as we tell everyone who comes on here and tells us what their dopamine dose is, like yours, its too high and you need to get off it. Put RLS and Augmentation in the search box and you will find many many posts about taking the dopamine meds and augmentation from them

This is a helpful link to read: sleepreviewmag.com/2015/02/... and also take a look at rls-uk.org/treating-rls The forum receives postings like yours daily. It is a very common problem. Unfortunately, patients are given incorrect information by doctors.

Hi , I bet you are having probs big time, and exhausted that's what rls is like. I was on Requip they put my does up to 8 tabs a day ,I wasn't on this forum then so never thought anything about how many I was taking, the worst thing was it made me keep nodding my head ,also in the end augmentation and that was awfull ,so please come of them slowly and change to another med, I am on the patch and Tramodol , good luck

I'm on just pramipexole and i do have horrible dreams and see things in the room that aren't there

That happened to me as well and I quit taking it. I was terrified to drive not to mention all the bad thoughts I had as well.

Ditto everything Elisse, Kaarina and Beady have said above. You need to reduce and get off the dopamine agonists. It's hard but it can be done and the daytime RLS will reduce/stop and the RLS in other parts of the body will go too. You can then try Tramadol/gabapentin/Targinact to control the nights,

Good luck,

Jools

Please search this site and others such as patient.co.uk to look for the details of the FODMAP diet. This was developed by Monash University for IBS but seems to help some RLS people including me. It free, you can do it yourself but I suggest you get a dietician to help you out. It is definately not an easy diet and its not logical unless you are an expert so follow the allowed foods strictly. A very small amount of a FODMAP food is enough to ruin two nights sleep for me so follow it and I hope you are in the lucky group for whom it works.

Good Luck
