25June.Nightdancer my post seems to have disappeared. My friend saw the information on the television evening news on the 22June.I could not check before now as the Internet for some mysterious reason failed. However she was correct (New York,Florida, and other States. It is an attempt to curb rampant narcotics use.Although if people want things they find some way of acquiring them.It just drives underground the acquisition of such things. The jails are already full because of marijuana being illegal in some states, and yet not in others.I just thought it was something which would be of interest.I assume Tramadol will be on this list which will be a considerable inconvenience to many.

In the UK they changed the likes of Tramadol and Zopiclone to Class C drugs!

It is important for the Dr's to maintain control on the drugs as for the most part, (imho), are glorified BNF's - the drug dictionary Dr's use!

For many if they were able to access the drugs they wouldn't need Dr's so the control must be kept.

Politicians make knee-jerk reactions to be popular with little thoughts of the knock on effects. They fail to differentiate between causality and correlation hence sill laws that wont work :(

When you are up against a system that is set against the common man there is little chance at success and we end up in a perpetual state of 'nearly well' which allows more and more drugs to be foisted on us and the drug companies rake in the profit.

Like I said on your other post from 12 hrs ago, it might be a state by state thing. Florida and New York are notoriously the worst states for opiate abuse, and we can blame the "pill mills" for this. Florida is in BIG trouble, that much I know, and certain pharmacy chains are REALLY in trouble. We can blame some of this mess on them. My brain is always on a 24 hrs news cycle, and I have seen nothing like about 7 days. not sure why you want me specifically, BUT, do I know you from Facebook or some other group, and that is why you are contacting me about this? I am glad you did, but again, I have seen NOTHING about 7 days. But, today I have time to get nosy and spend some time on this and will be looking for it. IF that is going to happen, it would be Schedule I drugs, and only in certain states. As I said, the state I live in, still does paper prescriptions and they have not all gone electronic yet. But I DO know I do not like how this is going, and legitimate patients are the ones getting screwed over. Will get back to you if I find something. if it was on the evening news, what news does your friend watch, so I can find it? I hear rumors and facts every day, so will be trying to find the info, but would help if I had jumping off point besides a 1 minute blurb on evening news, which I watch every night and have news on most of the time I am awake.

Retren, can I ask you a favor? Look at your posts and see the share option? The share option only appears when you choose the "everyone" option when you post. Can you please use "community only" if we are going to be discussing drug laws and meds? The everyone option outs it out all over this web site and will come up on an internet search, and I would rather discuss in the privacy of this group. Thanks! Not to toot my own horn or anything, BUT, lots of people know who Nightdancer is, and I do not want it all over the internet. ;)

They like to mess about in the UK as they have the classes A - C and then there is scheduling using numbers. The scheduling is if they have medicinal value cannabis is schedule 1 meaning it has no medicinal value so that should give you an idea of the system!!!

Scheduling:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contr...

Drug Classes:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drugs...

I'll not get on my soap box but it these are hopelessly out dated and manipulated categorisations and should be abolished, (OK I got on a wee bit :) ).

oops I deleted my question. LOL But, thanks for the answer. :)

I agree with you. The system is outdated on both sides of the pond!

You cannot get it off a post once you have posted it. When you make a new post it is really clear how to do it.

AND, I am going to start a new post, that will be private to this group ONLY, so look for it. I looked up the law and you are a little confused as to the wording of it.

Hi Nightdancer

I'm sorry to put this here but I haven't been on the forum for a long time and I've been looking for any posts with your name as I remember that you seem to know the most about this condition. my doctor seems determined to put me on antidepressants as I'm going through a bad time. I've resisted so far but i do remember you saying there was a couple of antidepressants that were OK to use. Can you tell me the names of them.

HI, Mirtazapine rarely makes RLS worse, and that is what I take. Also Wellbutrin. Those are the 2 safest ones. NO SSRI's and NO Tricyclics. Mirtazapine is used by several people I know with RLS, and it got rid of my panic attacks, and anxieties about leaving the house. Been on it for 7 yrs and all is well. ;)
