Exhausted

I've fallen asleep 5 times tonight and recorder the times. My rls wakes me up 7/10 minutes of falling asleep. I'm exhausted and tearful. This is my 7th night on the bounce. I'm a single mum of two who works full time and I'm not coping at all with my rls 😢 x

Hi Pumpcin ,,I feel so sorry for you ,have you not got anyone to take the kiddies out for an hour or two just to give you a break ? Even if you don't sleep at least it's time on your own ,you don't mention meds, are you taking something ,,if not ,it's time you went to Dr and got it sorted ,if you are they obviously aren't working ,you really do need to get this seen to ,before you get to tired to help your little ones who need their mum

Poor you, I feel your pain. I don't have children but I do work full time. Now I have a fitbit, I can prove to my GP that I sleep for about 2 hours 30 minutes a night, I wake about 38 times and am restless about 44 times on average every night. Of course, I'm not exhausted but suffering from depression according to him! I frequently cry from frustration and exhaustion. I know it doesn't help you but you are not alone.

Go to your GP and explain your rls, you need blood tests as a starter to rule out more obvious liver / kidney problems. Ask to be refereed to a neurologist. I have had electrical tests which prove I have cramp fasciculation syndrome - the worst form of RLS. Gradually, I am getting the drugs adjusted and last night I actually slept for 4 hours and 30 minutes!

Good luck and don't take no for an answer!

OK, your symptoms sound identical to mine when I started out. Get to H&B and get some magnesium supplements, then to your GP and get ropinirole. The Mg will take a few days to have any effect, but the ropinirole should work more or less straightaway. Don't mess about with this, your quality of life (and resulting mental health) is not helped by suffering.

Hi Pumpcin, I feel for you as I know very well how exhausted you are. You mentioned that your GP is not very understanding can you see another one?? Otherwise go back print off some anecdotal evidence from here + take info on RLS & possible treatments. I take ropinerole which do work to a degree even though I do wake several times a night its far better than every few minutes!! Good luck just keep nagging away at your GP.

Hello sweetie , what I do is twenty mins before bed. I will take extra pain relief .It works sometimes . My advice is go see your dr you cannot do this alone not with little ones , I hardly sleep but I had to finish work be cause I couldn't , I was burnt out . Now my Babis are grown so I rest all day if I want . I get it in the day and it can be morning and night , the day one is all over my body . Please go because I hate to think of you suffering this way . When we get as tired as we are likely to have more accidents , I nearly killed my self in my craft room because I was so tired . All said in love not nagging at you x

Thank you all so much for your kind and thoughtful words. I take one naproxen pain killer at night but it has no effect. I dread bed time but what's causing me complete panic now is my pending langhall fight with my young daughters next month. I don't know how I likely to be or how best prepare for it. I'm just tired all the time and when I get home from work all I want do is sleep but that would counterproductive and add to my sleepless nights. Its just miserable x
