Guest Speakers have been confirming their attendance at our AGM.
We are delighted to announce that Dr. Kirstie Anderson will be joining us as a guest speaker at the RLS-UK Annual General Meeting on Saturday, 3rd September.
Dr Anderson is a Consultant Neurologist trained in Newcastle, Cambridge, Oxford, Papworth and London. She graduated from Newcastle with distinction and undertook general medical training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital Cambridge. Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) Part 1 was achieved in 1996, Part 11 in 1997. Specialist neurological training was undertaken at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London, Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, RVI, Newcastle and Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. Dr Anderson undertook doctoral research at Oxford, culminating in the award of a DPhil in 2003. Dr Anderson took up post as Consultant Neurologist at the RVI, Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 2008 and was appointed Honorary Senior Lecturer, Newcastle University in 2009.
Dr Anderson has published widely and is one of the foremost sleep neurologists in the UK. She works within one of the largest sleep units in the UK. Inpatient and outpatient adult sleep patients are seen at the RVI and Freeman Hospitals, paediatric sleep patients at the Great North Children's Hospital. She has lectured widely on sleep medicine and has a major sleep research programme ongoing with collaborations with colleagues in Oxford University, Northumbria University and Newcastle University. She recently gave a presentation about RLS at the International Sleep Update Conference.
