3 weeks. Still good

I had acupuncture for RLS 3 weeks ago and although I'm not symptom free, there has been a massive change for the better.

Thats goid news!Could you answer me a few questions please. How long have you had RLS? Before acapuncture how often did you have RLS? Thankyou

It never worked for me.. :(

Aye, it never worked on me either not even a reduction.

Good luck to you John, long may it last.

Going to slightly hijack the thread here and ask would anyone consider hypnosis, could it possibly work if we were told to 'ignore' the feelings?

I have had limb jerks and convulsions which my doctor believes is related to RLS for over three years. It used to be once or twice a week and quite mild but after I had heart surgery it started any time I became drowsy. Going to bed or watching TV or sitting on a train became a nightmare. Sitting still was the worst. The whole side of my body would convulse. Sometimes one side, sometimes the other. That was two years ago. I was put on Ropinerole which I hate because it makes me feel sick. It seemed to work a little but not very satisfactorily.

It's been suggested to me by different doctors and pharmacists that it might be due to a number of things including antiviral medication that I take, but I've been taking that for 15 years so I don't think so. I wondered if it was related to RSI that I get -maybe trapped nerve, but no one agrees with me.

As for hypnosis, I think that it might well work. I have always felt that there is a huge psychological element to this. Having said that I've tried every thing that I can think of including mindfulness training, relaxation, hot, cold standing up for a while, jerking my legs when I feel that I'm about to convulse to try to release the build up. The only thing that sometimes works is walking about for a while.

What worries me about the acupuncture is that he also gave me Chinese medication, so now I don't know whether its the meds or the needles that have had this effect. I am going to stop taking the meds and see how I get on.

I hope this has answered your questions.
