Hi there,
This is just an idea, but i thought it would be nice to maybe have a chat room running on this sight for those who cant sleep at night with the rls and wanted a distraction or some company while they are awake. What do you think?

Hi annakalia, a chat room has been asked about before in the past. But unfortunately it cant be done.

A couple of chat room threads was posted around two years ago and this was the reply then from the RLSUK_Chair Administrator :
"Hi All,
I contacted HealthUnlocked about this earlier today and they have indicated that the idea has been discussed, but they were unable to give a time period or guarantee that it will happen. So I think we would have to work on the assumption that it's not going to happen. However, going on Elisse's suggestion, we could start a page/blog for those who are up and night and want to have a chat."
How does blog work so that we could use it that way ? I am not familiar with
Blogs at all. Would you explain how we could get it together ?

The forum underwent some changes fairly recently and I am now wondering if there is a facility for writing blogs anymore. If no one else can help perhaps you could private message the RLSUK_ Chair.

I would totally like to be instrumental in helping to continue this group. But in a sense, I am new to even bring a contributing member to a group such as this. Maybe I can contribute somehow, but I am not into the 'technical' side in knowing how facilitate keeping a group like this going. Keep in contact with me, though. Perhaps in some way, I can help you. That is what I mean. I don't quite how to navigate between the main I internite site and sending private
messages. I thank you for looking out for my personal email address. How DOES one send a private email in this group? That is why my message to two of you was on Public View, even though I sort of knew it wasn't to be viewed be everyone.

I dont wont members on here to think the forum is going to crash.
Those type of words will surely send members away from this forum and look somewhere else for support. That is NOT what we want.

In response to your query asking why we need someone to help keep the continuity of the site: the administrator, herself, asked if there was anyone among us who could help while she goes on a short leave.
In reply to your reference that people might leave .......
that would be much more likely to happen if the continuity of this site disrupts the help they are seeking.
We want to make SURE that does not happen, That is why we are expressing any concerns.

Hi Annie, we have Kaarina who has stepped in to help when she is needed now that Rosie is taking a break. The forum also has the Chair for RLS-UK who is also a Admin. So, this forum is fine, and will keep going. We have lots of members on here who give advice and support to other RLSers when they ask for help. Thats how the forum has always been. Admin are in the background. They are there for us if we have a query, we can PM them. The Chair of RLS-UK who is also Admin, sometimes posts info for us to read. So, please do not worry, the forum will go on as usual.

Annie, you can help anyway you feel like. Mostly we all just try to answer members by giving our own experience of how our RLS affects us. Or if members needs to know more about the meds. Our own experience of using meds, because we all react differently to the meds, we can only tell people how they are for us. We can tell members if they are taking meds that maybe making their RLS worse. We have members who have alot of RLS knowledge so they pass that knowledge on. Support is the key word for forums, we always give our support to members when they are having a hard time and need to talk to us about it.
You do all this just as you are doing now. No special place, just on here.

Yes, but I would bet that there are quite a few out there who would go for a format that accommodates several at a time in a give-and-take conversation.
Don't mistake me for putting your idea down, OK ? Maybe a few people would like to do that.

I'm up!!! It's 2:45 am.....gave up trying to sleep...my legs are terrible right now...really bad when I go to bed....I'm sooooo tired..".!!
I am SO empathetic to your plight !! Sometimes I think I actually bring the RLS problem on myself by getting agitated about it right before I go to bed ; rather like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Does anyone else feel this way ?

I say if we cannot get someone who is up on their Internet expertise, I will vote for anything that keeps this site viable and helpful to those who need it. It is truly going to be a shame to have it die on the vine. I think we serve a real purpose. I know it does for me.
I don't have a CLUE of how to get a blog going. And I don't know how you keep a group viable by any other means, either. Aargghhh !

Restless leg syndrome ? RLS means restless leg syndrome ? Well, I came to the right
place without really knowing it ! We just have to figure a way to keep this thing going.

Kaarina, I'll be fine. But if the administrator is leaving us for a stretch of time, we don't have anyone to step in and take at least part of the responsibility for ensuring the continuity of the site. Several of us are willing to help, but lack the technical knowledge of making Blog, for instance. And it is not just me who has expressed some concern about that. Our administrator, among others, has expressed concerns, as well. Do you understand just where I am 'coming from on this issue ?

I have an idea, of how we could chat while we are all up and awake. If admin can help at all. There are several chat programs out there that this sight could use and link it to this sight and have a password that we all use as memebers. i.e. skype you wouldnt have to use a mic or web cam just do a grup converstauion OR there are also other programs like team speek where everyone dowloads the client and then they woudl go into a room i.e. named R.L.S. UK and enter password and then you would all be able to chat for as long or little as you like.
