I have had neuropathic pain for 15years but only had sleep problems for a year -periodic limb movement disorder has been diagnosed.I wonder if the longterm use of gabapentin then pregabalin could have caused this.Does anyone else have a similar problem? Thanks

That med is actually approved for use in treating RLS in the USA, so I highly doubt it. Sometimes after a while, RLS can progress to a more severe level as get older. It is possible that is happening, plus maybe your body is so used to it, you may need a new med. It is not one of the addictive meds, so that would not be a problem either. have you changed any other meds.
Pregabalin is the one that was just approved, and Neurontin, chemically, cannot make RLS worse, and has also been approved for RLS for years. So, I would ask if you are doing anything new, any new meds for other conditions?
Thanks nightdancer.I knew neurontin was approved for the condition.my meds are unchanged otherwise so I wondered why this problem would have started in the last year.I used to sleep ok...
I think that Gabapentin and Lyrica (pregabalin) are taken for so many reasons that some of it is just coincidental. It seems that many take it in some other groups that I am in that have nothing to do with RLS or Neuropathy.
