Turning the heating on

Am I the only idiot who tries to put off turning on the heating?

No you're not!!

It seems there are many cold months stretching out in front of me so how on earth can the heating go on yet?

Just another week is the constant thought, while I wrap myself in every fleece product available - day and night.

I've just retired and am terrified of bills I can't afford - so, I'll wait another week!

How long until Spring? :-)

Gill I am exactly the same! I just gave our heating a 30 minute blast & feel a lot better! Me and the husband are going to sit down tonight and work out timers on the boiler, bleed the radiators and do meter readings (the wood for the fire is ordered!) feels strange especially as it's mild in the day at the moment! I fell asleep with an electric blanket and hot water bottle last night :) and the dog has a hot water bottle in her bed 24/7!

Him indoors hates it when the hooded, fleece dressing gown comes out and I wear it, with hood up to watch TV at night.

Perhaps if I wear it often enough - with slippers, throw and gloves? ;-)

I have to turn the heating on every now and then after I have tried everything else first.

No you really arn't....

I have a small electric radiator which is great before you want to put the central heating on.

I'm the same, anxious about high bills so the blankets appear on the sofa and both me and my daughter burrow under

Hi The_Bear,

We don't think that you're an idiot at all! We know how difficult it can be to try and find the balance between keeping warm and avoiding those high energy bills.

Have you had a look at our Handy Hints leaflet? (raynauds.org.uk/images/stor... It might be able to offer further advice on keeping warm during these colder months.

There is also the Home Heat Helpline, which might be able to offer some more advice on keeping on top of energy bills and discuss whether you are eligible for any kind of help, should you need it. (homeheathelpline.org.uk)

We hope that this helps!

Best wishes,

RSA team

Not at all. Heating is expensive but a quick blast is well worth it just to take the chill off. Good luck and wrap up warm too. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

How sad is this? Thinking of going my local council gym, pay up front for the year and get 25% off at mo, as they have a nice spa, sauna and steam room.

I'm not working and thinking I could spend a good few hours there each day to save on heating!

in reply to Gymbabe

Nothing stupid about that at all! It would get you out of the house and into some sort of company plus it's just a really nice thing to do for yourself! If you aren't working, is there a special rate that applies to you?
