Teeth hurt

Been 7 days since i quit smoking. I smoked menthols for about 15 years. Not using nicotine gum but some regular gum when the cravings come. Yesterday my teeth started hurting. Pretty bad. Im concerned i may have some other type of issue going on. Was hoping some of you had some good news for me out there. Ideas?

Hi TroyP

Congratulations on quitting! Teeth ache and bleeding gums are not unusual when you quit smoking as you have a better blood flow to the gums now. Try a softer tooth brush and toot paste for sensitive teeth fora a few weeks and do see your dentist if it does not improve but it should settle down.

You may find you need to try something other than gum to manage cravings if that is making the soreness worse. Give Quit4life or your local stop smoking service a call for some other ideas and check out our website for information on self help tools.

best wishes

Julia
