Mood swings

Hi, I have been quit for 5 days and keep crying (not like me!) at silly things. For the past 2 days my moods are everywhere and I am not sleeping well. Is this common and how long will it last. I really want to stay quit but this is not helping.

Hi, sorry to hear you have been upset.

its not unusual to have mood changes and they will pass soon. Many people find that a little bit of exercise - a few stretches, a walk - will help. Thinking about what you are eating and drinking too - trying to eat some healthy snacks and not having coffee in the evening. If you are taking the tablet Champix, changing the time you take the last tablet of the day (a bit earlier) can help you sleep better too.

Quit4Life Advisers can help with other ideas so why not give us a call, email or drop into see us for a chat? Or see our website.

Thanks, I called my adviser and have cut back on the coffee. I have also taken the champix tablet earlier in the evening and am sleeping better now. I am feeling great today and really proud of myself for getting to 15 days smokefree! Yes, I can do this!!
