Hi Smallbear, My husband had the same problem until we discovered, through this forum, Conveens supplied by a company called Charter Health. Ask your gp about them, you can get them on prescription and they are a life saver. Good luck.

Hi Smallbear. We had a similar problem with my hubby who has PSP. We were advised to use conveen sheaths which worked well for a while, but as things have progressed now, he has had a catheter fitted and this makes things better for both of us. You should speak to your GP or Distict Nurse who will advise which is best suited to your dad. Good luck.

Take care.........SuzieQ x

Hi - I would suggest you discuss this problem with your GP . It may not be as a consequence of CBD. I would suggest he has a PSA test which can indicate possible prostate problems -- better to find out sooner rather than later.

Hi Smallbear, i was told some time ago to limit coffee intake, no coffee after midday, also to restrict drinks about 1-2 hours before bed. To date hubby only has one coffee in the morning and stops drinking around 7.30pm, it works well to date as he was up 3 times a night, when i started he had very dark urine and i worried but it sharp went back to normal, just give plenty of drinks throughout the day, i have know idea how far advanced your dad is, also it may be some medication he's on so check before doing anything. keep your chin up and good luck.

Hi Small bear

My husband has CBD too, if you are in the UK ask to be referred to a Continence Nurse, ours has supplied a conveene which can just be used at night and saves the constant trips to the toilet and broken sleep. If we have any future problems we can then contact her without going through the GP.

Good luck

Our gp put us in touch with the nightingale nurses (continent) nurse. VeRy helpful my. husband now uses a convene sheath and night bag and we both have a better nights sleep. Soon got used to it . In fact it has enabled me to go out and leave him for a short while and know whe won't be trying to get to the toilet because he also uses it during the day if neaccessart

Usually going multiple times in the night is a prostate problem. Check with your GP for meds that can and will help. The meds open up the path for urine and allow good flow so the bladder empties completely thus not having to go as often. Good suggestion about limiting drinks before bedtime from another member.

Thanks everyone. What I have learned from your responses is my dad has quite a common CBD issue and he's quite far along. Dad has medication which supposedly helps and he has had his prostate checked. As I am in UK it sounds like a continence nurse may be next - have heard about convenes but negative as well as positive. To be honest I think dad will still wake mum at night either through the sensation of needing to urinate or because he is becoming very confused. I think I will have to encourage mum to rest during the day when she can or I will need to relieve her occasionally. Such a nasty condition this.....

Happy Christmas all
