Asking your GP to refer you for 'talking therapy' often helps. Sometimes medication at a low dose, such as citalepram, may help but needs to be taken for 6 months and slowly reduced under the direction of your GP. Talk it over with your GP, but be quite assertive about wanting to try councilling as it is proven to be very effective and has no side effects! Good luck.
