Great shot. An old cabbage rose. I bet it is fragrant. My roses haven’t started to to open. A bit too cool for them to date.

Awww, that’s really thoughtful of you for GranniB. The roses are doing really well, aren’t they, considering we are still dipping in and out of winter, with a taste of summer due again from Thursday. I have a rose in the garden that is about 38 years old, planted in memory of Rod’s dad and dug up and moved with us 20 years ago. The fragrance of the blooms is just gorgeous and fills the room; I picked a single bloom last weekend and put by Rod’s photo. Roll on everything else coming into bloom to cheer us up.

Yes, we are very lucky to have a lovely garden. When the caring for Rod became really challenging the garden became my escape and the place where I could find peace, even if just for 5 minutes, or sometimes the shed for a good cry. These days it’s my happy place, no time for sad thoughts when I’m out there.

Bless you that’s just how I feel a place to escape and my happy place as much as I love my Bill It’s great to be out and growing stuff before he got ill he would be helping and I miss that too but when it’s warm enough he will be out there lounging in the sun x

Rod used to sit in his recliner chair on the patio in the sun. He slept such a lot but he got a lot of pleasure from being out there and even though he couldn’t do anything to help I believe he felt included and that was very important to me. I am sure Bill gets great pleasure in being out there with you - here’s hoping for a lovely, warm summer.

I can almost smell them, they are beautiful and very apt for Granni B.

Reading Hils comment, my mother in law has a lovely rose that she took as a cutting from the family home in Ireland and nurtured back in the UK for many years, she encouraged me to take cuttings for myself and after several years of no success, last year got a cutting through the winter and this year hoping it will bloom. I love the continuity plants give. I have a Christmas cactus that was my godmother's and must be 30+ years old easily.

They look gorgeous and lovely deep colour. We had 32 Rose bushes around the front and side of our last house but unfortunately had to leave them in situ. Took a lot of time looking after them but it was worth it.

Very thoughtful of you sending to Granni B. 😘
