Beautiful - spring is here in London too and I am enjoying see lots of magnolia trees in bloom.

Today in LOS ANGELES is Wednesday. Sunday it was pouring rain, Monday the rain stopped. Yesterday, Tuesday, I had a woman support group to attend. The freeways and surface streets were all bombarded by thousands of butterflies. I can't remember that happening before (and I was born, raised, and lived here almost all of my life). The butterflies slowed traffic. Spring has surely arrived here too. HURRAH!!!

I was reading about the migration.
Wow, what a wonderful sight and one we don't experience in the UK ( not that I'm aware of anyway) Over the years there has been a noticeable decline in the number of butterflies, I have lots of butterfly friendly plants in my garden but they don't flock to them as they did when I was a child, very sad state of affairs.

It doesn’t have a fragrance which is OK as my sinuses wouldn’t be able to take it.
Really beautiful flower, I love flowers as they make the world a much better place to live in.

How beautiful and how clever of you to get it in flower. Mum had an orange one which I think she inherited from her mother and it certainly didn't flower every year. Unfortunately when she was less able to look after it, it got infested with mealy bug and had to be disposed of, but it is one of those plants that takes me right back.
Hope you enjoy it for many years to come.

It took me years to find out how to treat them properly. To flower they need three month of no water plus being in a room below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. I put them out in the spring for the summer then bring them in October 1st. They sit in an unheated room in the basement that faces south getting weak sun for the winter. This pot I brought up to my bedroom at the end of January and started to water it. The flower stalk appeared in about two weeks.

Oh no wonder Mum struggled (and she was known for her green fingers, she still instructs me now on when to water the house plants and what she wants planted in her tubs) they are quite fussy aren't they. I am going to keep your tips and I am tempted to treat myself to one & see how I do. Thank you.

If you do get one when putting it out in the summer they want no direct sun. It will burn the leaves. I put them under a tree where they get filtered sun.
