A crazy question...

Ian has woken up each day for the last fortnight complaining of back and stomach ache. It passes after a couple of hours usually. His mobility is generally poor now. Could it be the new mattress but he thinks it's an internal issue.

Any advice, apart from visiting the docs?

Thanks, Juliet.

Hi Juliet,

I notice the professionals guide to CBD to which Denb posted the link, does say 'pain often starts to show up as mobility decreases'.

You are in such an isolated location its probably too difficult to arrange a visiting physiotherapist for activation??....

Saw the doc this morning who said if the pain continues, to take him to hospital in the afternoon. At the local A and E now.....waiting!

After 4 hours and an enema we were sent home....with another couple to administer at home. Glad it was nothing more sinister, but a surprise, as Ian has never suffered from constipation. Guess his inactivity is having repercussions.

Hey ho! Another series of delights ahead. Glad we can laugh about it....At the moment anyway.

Thanks for your support, Anne.x

Our experiences:

On our case she has had some episodes of constipation that have been corrected by applying an intensive Mediterranean diet based on fruits and vegetables, abundant liquids (In particular, around 100 c.c. liquid before breakfast) and helped when difficulties by the drug Duphalac (lactulose, an oral osmotic laxative), but on some patients it produces annoying internal gases. As an alternative to Duphalac we are testing "Movicol" which is notably more active and does not produce gases. The problem is to find the right dose per day to achieve a regularity. At this time we are trying around 1.5g in the mornings at breakfast. Higher doses (6g / day, 3g / day) have produced too intense effects.

Yogurts with pieces of plum (at lunch) have been of special help and maintenance. Avoiding lemon juice, chocolate, bananas and rice, helps.

Staying quiet favors constipation. A program of gymnastic exercises, especially walking, favor regularity.

In case of not “open bowels” in 2 or 3 days, it is interesting consider to apply a Micralax cannula (citrate / lauryl sulfoacetate) rectally.

Hoping to be useful.

Hug.
