Husband has CBD over 12 years. Have tried various methods for dementia/ sundowning issues. Would like help from anyone who has tried effective drugs.

Dear M,

I don't have direct experience; my hubby had CBD and some dementia but not sundowning which is a common experience of Alzheimers patients. In fact, despite his obvious language loss and movement disorder, his neurologist wouldnt rule out Alz for the longest time! He was prescribed Rivastigmine. I dont know if it helped: I couldnt tell. But hubby tried a period off it and wanted to go back on it.

Good luck! . Anne G.

Thanks for your suggestion, we may try that if it doesn’t improve. Thanks again.

Mom had PSP and after a fall she had an operation on her hip... l now think she suffered from signs of sundowning. At the time l had never heard the word and no one on the hospital staff mentioned it... so much l did not know at that time.

I hope you find the answers you need to help your husband. Best wishes as you search an overwhelming subject. Sending hugs... Granni B

Finally took my husband to Wound care doctor outside “all inclusive Pace program”. His toe was turning black for several months before I finally demanded an outside doctor. ( they kept insisting it was due to an injury not healing). After 1 week and high dose of antibiotics it is doing much better along with his dementia/ delirium. ( the cycle is still there but slowly improving as well). He must have had an infection. So frustrating to go round and round with these people. Tired of complaining, such a relief to get help.

Why not want him see another doc? Something happened there. Is he diabetic?

Just wanted to mention a book I found a couple of years ago about dementia and CBD. It was a good resource for me. Called “Caring for a Loved One with Dementia”. A mindfulness-based guide for reducing stress and making the best of your journey together. By Marguerite Manteau-Rao, LCSW. One of the only helpful books out there that confirmed my fear that CBD /PSP might have dementia-related diagnoses involved.
