Hi ,

Can someone please tell me with photos that what setup we can do in toilet for PSP patient . So that no need to hold the patient and they will not fall.

Also any additional set up in room that will help PSP patient.

I don't have any photos but adding grab bars next to the toilet is a must. If you'd let us what the mobility level is of the patient is, a better answer can be given. For my dad we went from unassisted bathroom use to assisted then eventually not even using a bathroom. In the late-mid to latter stages everything was handled like in a hospital setting, in bed.

This is where an occupational therapist is good to have come into the home. They can go through the place and tell you what to do.

My husband has a commode chair on wheel which mean that you can support him when he is sitting down from behind. The stiff core makes it difficult to sit backwards onto a standard toilet. You then wheel the commode over the toilet or use the pot that can be slid underneath the hole in the commode. With that consider a Mo Riser to assist with standing up. I am UK based and got all of the correct equipment using the Occupational therapist and Phisio therapist through my GP. Hope that helps

A tilt in space commode/shower chair can be provided by occupational therapist. We have one made by Freeway healthcare part of Prisim uk medical ltd.

We use the steel wheelchair, which is just wide enough to enter the narrow washroom doorway. The chair is wheeled over the commode for passing stools, and washed using a water Jet, which is standard in most toilets in India. Bath is given using the flexible shower head. Since the wheelchair has side armrests, no danger of falling.

My parent use a Sara Stedy - they come in 2 versions. We have needed to now move onto using one with a hoist. We find it invaluable to move from chair to toilet. The occupational therapist recommended it.

Hopefully link will work - or google it and you can see better how it works. Also dad is now catheterised- which reduces the number of times taken to the toilet. Hope it helps
