My wife was diagnosed with CBD In 2015… Movements have become progressively more difficult… Spasms and severe pain on the affected side are very difficult to accept and deal with.....Faith has been huge in this journey… She claims for short term memoryAs well as her balance I have been affected… Botox has been a gift that we get every 90 days… It helps with rigidity and the pain from very tight back muscles...Does anyone have similar symptoms? Or suggestions on how to deal with spasms and pain… Good thoughts Hionarock

Hello Hionarock and Welcome to the site!

Aside from any responses you get here, you can check out the historic post strings on this site (7 years worth) by typing your query into the Search PSP Association window in the upper right of the screen. I just typed in CBD spasms and pain not the window and it brought up quite a bit. Of course unfortunately the same acronym is used for cannabis oil, so you'll get those posts mixed in too :-/

Good luck in your search and in caring for your dear wife. Do tell us more.

Hello and welcome to the site. Dad, CBD diagnosis in Jan 2016, is very rigid on the right side and neck area. He doesn't complain of spasms but to me me it looks like it would hurt a lot! He has a few lidocaine patchs on him and gets a mild pain med, non-opioid . As of last week the doctor is trying a mild muscle relaxer also. Dad gets tired very easy from the simplest tasks and naps often.

Hi I was talking about spams yesterday with my specialist nurse because my are mild she suggested quinine. I'm sure you already know it can be found in tonic water! You can get it in tablet form on prescription from the GP probably will be better for your wife is she in so much pain . Hope this helps you. Take care

Hello. Just want to share a caution with you. Husband has had CBD since 2006. Two years ago he received Botox injection for rigidity (left to right) in his neck and it was helpful. This spring, he received another Botox injection (5 shots) for similar issues, with disastrous consequences. It relaxed all of the muscles in his neck (except, thankfully, those involved in swallowing) and since then he can't move his head left to right and his head and chin have "fallen" down to his chest. Can't get them to return to anything close to normal function. He walks with a rollator but can't see what is in front of him, so I walk next to him, steering the rollator. Food and beverage consumption can be challenging. Social interactions have dwindled, as he can't see to whom he is speaking and it is hard for people to talk with him. Have tried physical therapy, drugs, ultrasound, acupuncture and massage, to no avail. By some miracle, his spirits are good.

So, hope Botox continues to be helpful for you but we were startled by this turn of events.
