Dad has PSP for last three years. He is on Parkinson Medication for last three years. Since last Friday, he has started falling a lot more.. took him to doctor did Urine test. Good news is that no UTI. Last night he was coughing a lot and also fell one more time. My Primary care physician is saying that i should take him to Emergency room to see if he has his Sodium/Potassium levels are okay and he does not have any other infection. Any suggestions? He also tried to take out lot of mucus last night and that was very tiring. He and my mom did not sleep all night. Is there anything i can do to give him relief from that i.e. mucus sucking machine?

My husband recently started glycopyrrolate and it has helped a lot with coughing and choking due to spit and phlegm. Sorry to say but I think the falling more is due to the PSP. Can you just ask your doctor for a referral for blood tests instead of going to Emergency Room. I am pretty much a newbie on here but hopefully you will soon get more replies.
