That is good news, what a relief - it is deserved. My husband 'S application was rejected. He is in a care home since 6 months now - falls/wobbles every time he moves, wears a crash hat has double continence issues, very sore eyes which he has closed the majority of the time, is always tired and looks asleep, has bad saliva pooling, is very 'confuddled' the majority of the time - i don't understand the rejection - I even had the Parkinson's/ Nurse in the assessment as well as the social worker but alas!!

How many times did you apply? Do our partners sound about the same in their stage of PSP?

Onwards and upwards I suppose. My husband is only 68 and we have a 17 year old son - now having to move home as well, all very difficult.

Your news is brilliant tho - well done!!!

Thank you cp

This was a review we was only aloud the nursing part for when he was in respite

His condition is falls and does wobble but he's transferred with 2 carers but I move him if need be at times .he wears a convene at all times but still needs toilet .his eyes he can only see in front of him and he does have days when he's more sleepy .he now has a peg and he's totally nil by mouth now . His speech is very low and always tells me to get my ears checked cause I'm going deaf lol

I got some sound advice from Kevin who is on here and for others and when the person came I gave her a checklist for the chc people to read as most don't know what psp is and before she started I did tell her that if we are refused put straight in for an appeal

I think there is just a bit of difference but I would appeal if you could and the advice I was given is go in with all the knowledge you can .also look through my posts in what help and advice I was given

So sorry to hear of your battles. What really caught my attention was your 17 year old son. We have a 19 year old son and his father's illness has been a really challenge for him for sadly all of his adolescence.

Take care and good luck with a CHC appeal. Check out previous posts Kevin has given tremendous advice.

How can that be legal, surely they are breaking the law not awarding your husband full funding, I find it unbelievable that someone in his circumstances isn't entitled to funding, I hope when you do get it awarded that it is backdated. I picked up a leaflet last week and there is a company you can call for free confidential and non-bligation chat to see if you should be receiving CHC funding, I guess they charge if you go ahead but they say they are a team of experts.at Care Advice Hub. The number is 0203 653 0627, might be worth a chat.

Really hope you can get this resolved as it makes such a difference to finances. We were rejected once when he had just gone into the home. Then 3 months later accepted (after a lot of tears from me they changed their minds at the meeting)! I seriously wondered how bad Steve had to be as to me he sounds just like your husband and it felt like a real battle. I am also sure that it depends whether the local council hasn't enough money. May be wrong but it also seems like a postcode lottery. KEEP APPEALING. Best of luck to you, my thoughts are with you as I felt it was the worse time of my life till it was accepted. A real fight but I am so glad the bills have gone from my life as they were dragging me down. Good luck!

Great news Sue, how many hoops did you have to jump through before given the well deserved funding. Isn't it terrible that they powers that be make it so difficult and stressful.

Sue really glad you got it! One thing less to worry about? Sadly by the time my husband got it it was too late. He died the following month. They just kept us waiting and eventually when I blew up it was too late for him.

They are a disgrace and every CCG in the country should be inspected regularly to see what they are doing with CHC assessments. Everyone agreed my husband should get it but they just wouldn't pay until they knew he was near death. What does that say about these people?

Thank you Marie

Hope you are well and bearing up love

I agree that it seems the same for everybody that you have to scream shout n pull your hair out to get anything from these people .

We are now waiting for a care company to pick up the package which I don't know when that will be

Sue

Hope you find a good one. Won't tell you my list of problems with them!! Only found 3 carers from two different companies who were worth the name! We couldn't get anyone to get Garry up in the morning so he had the same 2 council carers for over a year. They were brilliant and not counted in the above total. If we could have had them all we would only have needed three more decent ones to be happy! It wasn't to be however. Garry had to be double handled 4 times a day and this was before we had any idea what was wrong with him!

So do I Marie

This last year we have had 3 different homecare 1st one were good but he went to 2 carers and they could not accommodate 2nd one care was ok but somebody signed my signature on a document so I kicked off about it 3rd one they wasn't too bad as such but I said who would come cause I didn't want idiots that didn't know him that wasn't too bad but then one carer accused the other carer of tampering with him while they were putting convene on him .

All this care I thought would make it easier but I've had to watch all the time

So I think I will have to be positive and onwards and upwards lol

Sue I did exactly the same with Garry. The only two I really trusted were the two in the morning. Anyone else I went to bathroom and bedroom with him. The one day I didn't as I was on the phone, one of the carers...not in the good list, said she had hurt her back. She didn't! The person who was with her that day was furious as she had done any hard work. However the Care agency refused to lift his feet!!! I had to put him to bed alone one night while two of them stood and watched me! After that it was a nightmare as they couldn't get an agency to take him on. So we had the council carers but not the good ones. Every night he had different people poor man! It was so upsetting.

I totally agree with you the good ones are few and far between that's the experience I've had with them

I'm hoping that we will get a set of good ones now
