Low Hemoglobin??

My Mum was admitted to hospital last week with a red blood count of 40...has anybody had low HB with PSP or CBD? After 3 units of blood she is now home and waiting for further investigation. Just curious if anybody else had this and why?

My husband has never had a low blood count since PSP but he did several times in the 1970s and 80s when his colitis was at its worse. He had blood transfusions on 4 occasions. He was losing blood from his bowel. There are lots of things that can cause a low blood count so I hope the investigations find the reason soon.
