Bathroom and the amount of time .

We only have one bathroom and there are days I feel like he is never going to go pee or have that illusive bowel movement we are always chasing after and this goes on all day LONG.I have to get to know the neighbours better so I can use their bathroom LOL.And then there is the showers ,he is still able to shower himself for the most part but he take's such a long time ,not sure who is going to give out first me or the old hot water tank.

thanks for reading

I wonder if a portable potty in a secure corner of his bedroom might be one solution......and then for the showers......if he's not a mess, schedule it and when he hears the alarm clock ding he knows it's time to get out. I stand right by my husband to help him maneuver and keep from slipping. He doesn't have a problem with time efficient showers but if he starts, I'm right there to remind him shower is almost over!!!

Good luck....

You could get a porta potti chemical toilet as used in caravans or boats. They come in all sizes and can be used anywhere. Peter.

I think the portable toilet is a great idea. You can set it near the bed as well. As for the shower, I'd just get in there with him. That way you both can get clean at the same time. Just pretend you're still on your honeymoon. :-)

We have a wheeled commode which I can move to the bedroom or spare room to allow M privacy. I can get M to the main toilet but as you say it can block the room and as her mobility reduces it is quite difficult to get there in time. The shower I like the alarm clock but no longer required as M has Carers to help dress and shower.

It may be worth considering a wet room (M used to fall and smashed at least 3 cubicles before we invested in shower wet room.

Best wishes Tim
