Where are you getting the cramps . .If they are in feet / legs , I expect you know the best relief is to stretch but ones ever my husband had a hospital bed rise and recline bed I raise the feet part a little and they are now rare . I think Amitriptyline has helped as well .

The cramps happen in my lower leg muscles and happen in both legs and mostly happen simultaneously. Quinine was prescribed but the tablets kept sticking in my throat.

Is it like Achilles and under you heel as well my husband had it really painful as he was waking up . he never ever complains but he would shout when that happened . Try rolling a towel up and placing it under your knee or knees .

do your toes stick up . Or your fingers and thumb

You can get quinine water I believe. I get cramps as well.

I'm anxious to hear how it goes. My dad wakes up at nt & his arm is frozen in an uncomfortable position. He has no control over his left side. I think it's pain that wakes him. My mom is exhausted from nights of interrupted sleep. Sleep deprivation is causing her to loose patience with him. Hospice is set to start helping her in a few weeks, but that won't help these long nights of him waking her up. I'm here helping now. I'm exhausted jumping up so she can sleep.

Have you had an assessment from social services to get help for your parents? If not, I suggest you give them a call, they have to respond with a visit within 21days I believe. Your mum could get support for her through the day and night. There is help out there so don't suffer alone. Check out P.A payments and the new personal health budgets. There are drugs like quinine available to help with night time cramps. See your consultant or GP.

My husband has suffered with them for years. He thinks tonic water helps as does some non- prescription tablets that are for 'muscle cramps'. Usually getting up and walking around helps. Once he can no longer walk I don't know what we'll do. Pushing up against the foot if it is in the calf helps. Relaxing is the real answer but easier said than done!

i agree with the last person if I get cramp in my calves or legs I try and put my foot on the floor and that usually takes it away even if you are sitting down but of course you have got to get into that position to be able to do it which is sometimes very difficult it works for me

I used to suffer from night cramps until I invested in an electronic pulse machine called circulationmaxx (Google it) and not only did it stop the cramps immediately but i do not seem to suffer from them nowadays.
