If you have a disability and live in the UK you can register with the Power companies to consider you as a priority in the event of a power cut. Very important if you rely on electricity for bed/mattress/hoists etc!!

The above link is for London and the South East but I am reliably informed that most, if not all, providers run a similar scheme. Suggest you contact your provider!!
