I haven’t posted in a couple of years but have been following along daily with this forum’s wealth of information.
I had my prostate removed 2 years ago at MSK and have recovered well with a still undetectable PSA. I’m writing for advice on my 91 yo father. He was recently found to have bone metastases throughout his skeleton. PSA is in the 70s. Apparently, they stop testing PSA routinely in the very elderly so this has come as a great surprise to all of us.
The Urologist has suggested Firamgon hormone blocker, but my father is thinking he’d rather not go through with it given the side effects and his age.
I’m hoping to gain some insight from this forum to help when discussing this with him. My inclination is for him to take the treatment in hopes of guarding against debilitating fractures and reducing pain.
Very appreciative for any advice or feedback.

He should take a bone strengthener if he is going to start ADT...discuss with his Doc....of course PCa can result in fractures, and unfortunately ADT will weaken his bones too!! It sounds as if the growing metastases at this time are more of a risk than the ADT.....discuss with Docs!!! Adt also reduces muscle mass, so that of course increases risk of fall and broken bone.
You don't mention pain as a symtom with him now. but there Will be pain in the future, and sooner rather than later if he doesn't do something to slow PCa growth ?
I don't know much about the protocol for your Dad's situation....you might also ask about 2nd line ADT treatment in addition to Firmagon...hit it with all guns blazing now?
