I'm not at all familiar with PETscans. Friend has not talked to Doc that I am aware of. Just sent me these. My read is this is good; no metastasis that they are aware of. Feedback very much appreciated.

Narrative

INDICATION: Neoplasm: prostate

COMPARISON: None, correlation with MRI 2/1/23

TECHNIQUE:

-Dose: 10 mCi F18-FDG.

-Resting blood glucose level: 78 mg/dL.

-Field-of-View: Whole body imaging was performed from the skull base to the thighs.

-CT Correlation: Low-dose CT imaging was performed for attenuation correction with reconstruction image sets were created, along with fusion imaging of the CT and PET

data sets. A three-dimensional volume rendering was also generated.

FINDINGS:

Head and neck: Physiologic activity is seen within the visualized portions of the brain parenchyma.

Thorax: Physiologic activity is noted within the heart.

Abdomen/pelvis: Physiologic activity present within the GI and GU system. Focus of radiotracer uptake seen in the left peripheral zone, consistent with MRI findings, with max SUV of 7.8.

Musculoskeletal: No abnormal FDG avid activity noted within the musculoskeletal system apart from expected mild uptake due to degenerative changes.

Low-dose CT: Bibasilar platelike atelectasis. Moderate degenerative changes. There is colonic diverticulosis without CT evidence of active diverticulitis.

Scout, maybe you need stronger reading glasses. It is FDG PET not PSMA PET scan!

FDG showed that there was cancer within his prostate and nowhere else. FDG is not often used for prostate cancer, because it is not sensitive for it. Why did he have an FDG PET scan?
